Taking a break

I've decided to take a break from blogging! I really don't have the time at the moment to put as much effort in as I would like too, what with looking after an 18month old and with twins on the way!
I hope everyone has a lovely Chistmas and New Year! And hopefully I will be back shortly!

Also thought you might like to see Sebastian having his first babycino! I think he likes it! (Opps I forgot to rotate the picture!)

Christmas Presents

I thought I had better get started on our Christmas shopping! So at the weekend I made a trip to spotlight! Can anyone recommend any good online fabric shops?? I have been purchasing my fabric overseas but with the dismal exchange rate at the moment I can't really afford it!

This year I am going to sew my nieces and nephew their presents, I'm going to make notebook/pencil holders thanks to One Red Robin. Here is the fabric ready to be washed!

Sweet Bear and a Taggy Cat

So finally I am starting to feel well again and have even manage to get some sewing done!

Here is a sweet bear I have designed, I must say it took me a while to get everything right but I am really pleased with it and will start making some for my Etsy and Madeit shops.

I also made up a Taggy cat which is for sale here!

I'm still here!

Hi everyone...anyone..er if there is still anyone reading this!!
Wow I have been away for a while but I must say with good reason, well I think its a good reason! A couple of months ago now we found out we were expecting again, yay! Though I knew something wasn't quite right with how I was feeling, very very tired all the time and extremely sick. So sick I could hardly get out of bed! Jokingly I said to my friend the day before the scan I bet I'm having twins, there has to be a reason why I'm feeling so terrible! Anyway next day me, Matt & Sebby went along to the scan and the first thing the lady said to us was......I thought you were having twins..had a feeling just looking at you!! Luckily I was lying down and Matt was distracted with Sebby...excuse me we said?? Yes your having twins...there's 2 heart beats there she said! Wow twins was all we could say all the way home and I think for the next couple of weeks! We are so excited and can't wait till they are here! Anyway here is a recent scan we had done...definately 2 heads there!

Oh and here is a little something I am working on this morning, which I am very excited about! More of this soon!
So after a big clean out and putting the machine back together, I thread the needle and waited to see if it would work again! And It did, Yey. I am so sorry sewing machine I promise to clean you once a month!

My poor sewing machine

Yesterday mid way through sewing a toy, my machine made a horrible choking sound followed by lots of banging and a bit of smoke!! Ahh I didn't know what to do! So i ran straight out to Matt (reading in the garden) crying quick we have to get to a machine doctor something is wrong! Have you checked in the manual he replied.....er no not yet said I! So back in I went to try and find the manual and warrenty booklet thinking the worst and that I would never see my machine again. I found the trouble shooting section at the back of the booklet and then saw the words maintence.....humm maintence I have had my machine since Christmas and not once had I performed any maintence, so following the instructions I took a few srews out and to my horror here is what my machine looked like inside:

Sebastian had a 3 hour nap this afternoon, Yey! so i whipped him up a kitty cuddly. I think he likes it!

Kitty Cuddly

Last night I worked on a new Kitty Cuddly, same shape as my Taggy Cats but this one has a tail, guess you could say it's an upgraded version! I like this shape alot and I am hoping to make bunnies, puppies, pigs, bears etc. Just a few things to work on though...I might make it a little bigger and try a diffrent way with the arms and legs! What do you think???

Like riding a bike!

So for some reason yesterday whilst out shopping I had the urge to buy some knitting needles and wool, I think I must have something to do with it being so cold at the moment! Anyway it has been ages since I did any knitting....hum say around 10 years or more so I was abit worried about if I would know what to do! But I googled knitting and as soon as I saw a couple of pictures it all came back to me, just like riding a bike you never forget! So rather than start knitting a scarf which in the past I would always loose interest in after a while, I thought I would have a go at making something alittle more complicated and much cuter that Sebastian could have! Oh and I have also been a huge fan of Julie's blog. She makes the most wonderful little toys I have ever seen! So I am going to have a go one of her free patterns and make a teenie tiny toy! Here is a photo of where I am so far! Not bad I thought! But I need to get a few more needles before I can carry so watch this space......!

Routines!

Sebastian has turned one, School holidays are just about finished, we are back from Grandma and Grandads and slowly we are getting back into our routine! Yey I love routine, we all love routine! Sebastian knows when its time for dinner, naps and bath time and we know when we will get a spare 5 minutes to sit down with a cuppa! Here is a picture of us at Sebastians party, he was a lucky boy and had 2! One with all his playgroup friends and another with family! It was also a bit sad that my side of the family are all the way back in England so couldn't with us to celebrate, but maybe next year he might have a party in England!

I had great fun making the cake! I bought those butter cake mixtures from woolworths and covered it with some yummy butter icing I made using manderin juice!

I bought some lovely Japanese fabrics the other week and today I turned them elephants and giraffes now avaliable in my etsy shop!

Friday, June 6, 2008

All the babies in my playgroup are turning 1 at the moment so I thought I would have a go at making them all flags with their name on. First up was Piper, have attached some pictures of her flag!

I'm not sure if I will add these to the shops yet, but they were fun to make!

I am so excited as this week I am the feature shop on the NCtriangle Blog dedicated to Etsy members in and around the triangle area in North Carolina. Each Wednesday they feature an Etsy shop from outside their team and this week its me! Hopefully this will generate some expose for Sammybhandmade! Also one of my elephant cuddly's is on the meet me at mikes blog today, go check it out!
Well where do I start, I know its been far to long since my last blog but we have all been sick with the flu. It seemed to keep going around and has taken us a while to shake it off! And Sebastian has been teething also (he now has 2 top teeth), It really has been a horrible few weeks! But now I am pleased to say we are all better and the sun is shinning, yey! - after a week of rain - which we needed so I'm not complaining, it is great to be able to get out and about again! Sebastian's favorite thing to do at the moment is feeding the ducks, we go every day for a visit and he has just started saying Duck! So cute!

Thought I would show you all some pictures of my lovely family! Last weekend we went to visit our friends Arlinna and Turo at there new home. After a lovely lunch we went for a walk and popped Sebastian in the swing for the first time! He wasn't sure of what to make of it at first but after a while he loved it! And the other photo is on the way home! Poor little thing was very tired!

Taggy Cat Day

Hello All! Hope you have had a great week! Well as promised here my Friday night blog! I have had another great week, thanks to some good advice from a fello madeit seller I re-photographed a few Elephants and Taggy Cats which lead to an enquiry for another wholesale account! Ahh.....its great but I'm thinking am I ready yet, It does all seem to be happening rather fast. Bit too much too soon....To be honest I really didn't think I would get that much interest yet so I would have plenty of time to get organised etc etc but now I actually think about it...will I ever be organised and ready??
Today I managed to sew 17 taggy cats! Wow what a day! And tomorrow I will start on some monsters and owls. I am hoping to have all these on my madeit and Etsy shops by Monday night. So make sure you go have a look.
Have a great week!

Monday, April 21, 2008

Ok I know I am a bad blogger!!! I am still very new to all this blogging and writing about what yourself stuff, so please be paitent with me as I get my head around it all! I have decided that Friday night (Whilst Matt watches footy) will be my blogging night! So look out next Friday!
Anyway today is Monday and Matts back at school (yey) and Seb is having his morning nap so I thought I would jump online quickly before he wakes, say hi and post some pictures of what I have been up to this weekend!
So here they are - a few Elephants, some for my Etsy shop and some for another online shop, (can't say where yet but will keep you posted). The Kitty is my new Cat! Its cuter than the others I have been doing and the one here is for my friend Rosalie's little girl Matisse for her brithday.
And I thought I would also have a go at making a doll, which I must say Seb loves....I should know by now that I always give him the first things I make and I really should make them in more boy colours!
Well guess I had better get going, lots to do this morning.....few cutom taggy blankets! Til friday...have a great week x

I forgot to say I received loads of interest in him and he sold for $7! Not bad for a first attempt!

I got a sewing machine for Christmas and so the fun has started! Having a 6 month old baby and not wanting to go back to work in a hurry I decided to try and make something worthy of selling on ebay! And here it is Alfred the Taggy Cat!
